You Are What You Eat…?’ – Isotope Research in Archaeology
Paleo-diet reconstruction and provenancing of a Medieval population in Vlaardingen, the Netherlands

41 human skeletons were excavated from the central market square in Vlaardingen dating from 11th century AD. Both skeletal features, burial methods and materials raised questions about the history and provenance of the people that lived and died at the time of the important Battle of Vlaardingen in 1018 AD.
