Event Information

This tour by coach will visit a number of places in Leeds where a wide range of artefacts from the past are stored. Some of these are not accessible to individual visitors.

Cost    £17 / person

The Stephensons coach will leave the Vue Cinema, Clifton Moor, York at 8.45 a.m.                                                                                                       and also pick up at Memorial Gardens, Leeman Road at 9.00 a.m, before proceeding to Leeds, where the first stop will be to Leeds University West Campus to the recently built Sir Michael Marks building which houses the Marks & Spencers Archive. The visit will include light complimentary refreshments, a talk by one of the Archivists, and an opportunity to take a trip down memory lane by browsing the small exhibition there. If you have time to spare, you might also consider visiting the University of Leeds International Textile Archive in the redundant church opposite (free).

We then board our coach to travel to the area of the Royal Armouries Collection and also Leeds Museums Discovery Centre. The latter houses the treasure house of the vast reserve collections of Leeds Museums and is normally only open to groups. There will be an opportunity to purchase lunch before the visit. If a suitable place for a group lunch can be found, this will be offered at an additional cost and details will be sent to those booking the tour. After visiting the Discovery Centre, there will be time to visit the Royal Armouries collections before setting off back to York in the coach, where we expect to arrive between 5.00 and 5.30 p.m.
