Alien seaweeds on our shores – does it matter and who cares?
Seaweeds are the Cinderellas of the natural history world, often overlooked in forays on to the shore. Geologists sweep them aside so they can study the rocks beneath, holidaymakers going rock pooling are only interested in crabs and fish, swimmers dislike the slippery fronds. Phycologists studying macroalgae are an ageing and dwindling group so this is an attempt to raise the positive profile of seaweed!
Presentation by Dr Jane Pottas, Lecturer in Marine Biology and Ecology, University of Hull.
Doors open 7.15pm. Tickets are free and can be pre-booked by phone or on-line with City Screen (0871 902 5726)
