Crummack Dale: geological excursion

Event Information

This year we are moving away from our usual haunts on the Yorkshire coast, and visiting an area on the southern end of the Carboniferous limestone dales. Crummack Dale, North of Austwick, is an area well-known to geologists. Many students of the subject spend their first field trip there. There are exposures of some of the oldest rocks in Yorkshire, fault lines and unconformities and some spectacular evidences of glaciations. Please note that this will not be one of our usual fossil-hunting trips (though fossils may well be found)
An excursion to an area of significant geological interest, led by Stuart Ogilvy. Includes some reasonably energetic walking
