Almost fully booked – only one place available
This will be a multi facetted study tour, exploring Irish History, Religion, Culture, Rebellion, Famine and Gardens. We will travel by executive coach, and base ourselves in the AA 3* Sevenoaks Hotel, Carlow Town for all 5 nights on a half board basis. The hotel has a good restaurant and a swimming pool.

A summary is given below:-
The base cost is now fairly firm at £455 per person sharing, with a supplement of £70 for singles. The deposit will be £55 pp on booking, with the balance due 31 March 2014. The precise balance due is subject to minor adjustment (eg if exchange rates change significantly) and will be confirmed a few weeks before it is due. Some minor changes to itinerary are also still possible.

Sunday 18 May
0800 Leave York, Leeman Rd. Travel via the Holyhead-Dublin ferry, to arrive at the Sevenoaks Hotel for dinner.
Monday 19 May
Tour of the 12thC Kilkenny Castle set in extensive parklands. Drive past St Canice Cathedral and Round Tower, Kilkenny Town Centre, with brief stops for photographs.
After a short stop at Alhenny High Cross , drive to Waterford for lunch. Tour the Waterford Crystal Visitor Centre and Glass Works. Explore Waterford town centre on foot eg Treasures at the Granary – Viking & Mediaeval; Bishops Palace; Cathedral
Brief coach tour of Carlow Town Cathedral, Carlow Castle, Croppies Grave and Celtic Cross
Tuesday 20 May- Dublin (with Powerscourt option)
Main Group– Full day self guided tour of Dublin. Possible attractions include- Trinity College & Book of Kells , Irish Writers Museum, Dublin Castle, Kilmainham Jail, National Museum of Ireland- Viking Gold, Archaeology, Natural History etc, National Botanical Garden of Ireland, Christ Church Cathedral, St Patricks Cathedral, Guinness Storehouse, Dublinia, Pearce Museum, Temple Bar, St Stephens Green. And many more! The coach will provide some transport within Dublin.
Second Group– ½ day Dublin Highlights + ½ day Powerscourt Estate. After this group has had the chance to see some Dublin Highlights as above, the coach will take it to Powerscourt Gardens in time for a late lunch,. Powerscourt has one of Europes finest gardens set in 47 acres in a spectacular setting
Wednesday 21 May
Enniscorthy – Tours of the 1798 National Rebellion Centre and Enniscorthy Castle.
Ferrycarrig- Irish National Heritage Park . New Ross- Tour of Dunbrody Emigrant Ship.
Thursday 22 May
Short stops at Baltinglass Abbey and Castleruddy Stone Circle.
Tour of Russborough House & Walled Gardens.
Short stops at Blessington Lake and Wicklow Gap for photographs.
Glendalough Visitor Centre. Tour 6thC Christian settlement and monastic remains. Coach tour of the glacial valley, passing the lower lake and with a brief stop at the upper lake.
Tour of Avondale House & Forest Park, the birthplace and Georgian home of Charles Stewart Parnell The Uncrowned King of Ireland
Short stop at the Brownshill Dolmen, which has a capstone weighing 100 tons.
Friday 23 May
Kildare. Tour of the Irish National Stud, and a quick look at the relatively small Japanese Garden and St Fiacres Garden, or the Horse Museum.
Dun Laoghaire. Option of a leisurely coffee, or a quick tour of the small James Joyce Tower and Museum. Sail on fast ferry from Dun Laoghaire to Holyhead. Coach back to York to arrive approx 2030hrs.
