Please congregate in the concourse of the Physics and Electronics Building at 6.15 p.m. on Thursday 10 April 2014.
This event will sample three interesting and contrasting research activities of Yorks Physics Department. The emphasis will be on understanding how photons of different energies (e.g. X Rays or Gamma Rays) are detected and used to probe environments as diverse as nuclei on the one hand and Bragg reflection from complicated but ordered crystals on the other. Finally scattering of light provides a more gentle but effective environmental probe.
You will then need some refreshment to recover after which the visit will have lasted about an hour and a quarter. There is a charge of £4 per person. Please return the attached form with a stamped addressed envelope and an appropriate cheque or book by email to jadm1@york.ac.uk and pay on the day. You will receive confirmation and further details around two weeks before the event
