Geology Notes for May

Paul Thornley’s latest instalment of suggestions to keep anyone interested in geology busy during the pandemic is now available.

This month’s notes feature William Buckland, who studied the remarkable bones in Kirkdale cave, which led to the founding of the YPS. Buckland correctly deduced they represented the remains of a hyenas’ den. Paul has provided links to a wealth of material on this story, which is particularly important as the YPS approaches its bicentenary.
